Quality hats, individually hand stitched to your design in England

Welcome to Korsakoff...

Korsakoff Millinery gives a personal experience, if you choose Korsakoff you will deal directly with the person making your hat and get a wide range of advice and assistance in creating the hat for you. As a result each Korsakoff design is highly individual and in many cases entirely unique.

At the bottom of this page are a small selection of the pre-made hats and fascinators which have been developed as examples of the Milliners skill. Any design seen below can be re-made as is or with variations in decoration and fabric.

However this is only a taster of what is available, designs are only limited by your imagination and totally new designs can be constructed by consultation with the Milliner.

The Hat Workshop

The allure of a bespoke hat is in both how it looks and how it feels. These qualities are firmly tied in to how the hat comes in to being. For Korsakoff this is a very personal process involving close liaison between Milliner and customer to create your own individual style.

Fabrics and Designs

Korsakoff hats are hand crafted by traditional methods using a variety of materials both formal such as silk, straw, sinamay, felt, cotton, linen and wool, as well as the less convensional such as woven metal and pvc. Designs range both from the practical and well known to the extreme and outrageous giving a wide range of ideas to choose from.

Hand stitching

The hats are individually designed, formed and hand stitched by the same craftsperson over a number of days. Every new hat is tackled differently making each one a unique piece of art in its own right.

Hat Forms

To shape a hat it is moulded around a solid wood block, in our case each one is uniquely made by an in house Master Carpenter. This means that no concept is outside our reach as it can be designed and put in to reality by the artisans within house of Korsakoff.

Meet the Milliner

Ellen Ward turned to millinery after more than 15 years experience of corsetry and costume design and construction. As with many of the most talented milliners Ellen was trained by Rose Corey, a milliner of 50 years experience and once a Royal Warrant holder as hat maker to the Queen Mother. Ellen initially trained as an engineer in the field of Cybernetics and pursued a career in research and statistics whilst continuing with her tailoring and millinery in her free time. She finally took the step to running her Millinery business full time in 2008 based on the success of her earlier work.

Ellen is always available for consultation and can be contacted via:
